Days Gone By

Stained glass window in the barn of Louck’s Farm, Upper Canada Village, Morrisburg, Ontario, Canada.

The barn is used to store all kinds of old carriages and sleighs. The sunlight coming through the window caught my eye and I spot metered on the window. This resulted in underexposing the interior of the barn.

Sony Alpha 700, Sigma 28 to 300 at 26 mm
iso 100, spot metered, F4.5, 1/60 second

What a beautiful shot! And what a gorgeous work of stained glass art to adorn a barn window no less! Nice find!!

  • Mike Oxley replied

Thanks so very much, Deb. It certainly is a nice window and, funnily enough, there’s no mention of it in any of the info they give you. I was lucky to spot it.

Wow, now that is simply magical! I love all the contrasts going on here – interior gloom/bright outdoor light shining through, carriages inside/ the horse looks like it’s alive outside, the life on the stained glass/the stillness in time on the items inside – this is wonderful Mike!

  • Mike Oxley replied

Thanks for your very kind words of encouragement, Aileen. Always so greatly appreciated. And thanks, too, for the favourite!

Really neat Mike. It is like Old Times coming alive again.

  • Mike Oxley replied

Thanks so very much, Jonice. Upper Canada Village is such a wonderful place, depicting life in Ontario in the 1800’s.
