I’m an avid photographer and I don’t go anywhere without my camera. My favourite photographer is Freeman Patterson, a Canadian photographer who has published several books on photography. He has inspired me to take risks, try to be different, and to set high standards for myself in my photography. My favourite artist is Edward Hopper (and in future I hope to display some works that are similar in style to his)

I prefer to be “eclectic” in my photography and to choose different subjects and treatments. I try not to repeat myself too much, and will deliberately try something new and untried rather to revisit something I have already done. I also believe strongly in what Katherine Hepburn said, “If you don’t break the rules, you miss all the fun”. I try to break the photographic rules as often as I can. To do this, and while I enjoy taking “normal” photos, I create non-photorealistic images. Many of my photos are deliberately blurred or painted using either in-camera techniques or Corel Painter. I find that with so many people having digital cameras today, to stand out from the crowd you either have to be very good or be different. So I’m trying to be different, in my own way.
When I have about 50 great images, I publish a book of photos for myself and friends (I use and recommend hard cover books from blurb.com)
Enjoy my gallery!
