The shot of this 1959 Plymouth Belvedere was taken at a recent car show. It is signed on the driver side roof by “The King” of NASCAR #43 Richard Petty, however there is no evidence that this car ran in the 1959 Daytona 500 (the inaugural event). The background is the start of the that race which was actually won by Lee Petty (Richard’s father) in a close finish. So close that it took 3 days to determine the winner.
