Michael, I simply love this. How did you create this effect? Is it a painting/drawing, or a photograph which had been digitally played with? It’s so interesting. A very strong image.
Hi Whirligig, this is from one of my sunflower photos. Goto www.paintography.com.au > Galleries > Photography > Sunflowers to see others in the series. Digitally played with of course, that’s what Paintography is about. I create about 20 different versions of colour and texture for each paintograph, then try many different blending options in Photoshop from 2,3 to 10 different layers. Adding, subtracting, with or without masks, creating even more versions until I’ve produced half a dozen I’m happy with. The green leaves were over-painted in Painter to remove any photograhic definition. The rough texture on ‘Transient Glory’ was also created in Painter. There are about 40 different files for this image with a folder size of about 1GB. The difficult part is not the creation but deciding which ones to show!
Yeah, I was wondering if you’d used the same sorts of methods as you did with that superb Kimono series. It’s really great. Just takes art to another level, doesn’t it. You’ve really inspired me to sit and fiddle with photoshop more!...........
