A close up study of the Langdale Pikes
This photo was taken on the first day of our 2010 easter holiday.

4 days later we climbed the pikes.
This included an overnight camp at Stickle Tarn which sits at the foot of the crags of Pavey Ark which can be seen to the extreme right of this image.
The central summit is that of Harrison Stickle the highest of the pikes

An excellent capture Mike………………….I love the Lake District………………..I think I need to visit this lovely place again……………………..Joyce!!

  • thanks Joyce
    Yes you should revisit
It has featured large in our life for 20 years..
We visit every year , usually easter.
Because of our experiences our 3 sons have all developed a love of the outdoors
Hopefully they will all join us again next easter.
Our eldest son Tom has been a climbing instructor for several years.
Our youngest son William is at Cumbria Uni studying Outdoor studies. He keeps posting images climbing in the recent snow on Blencathra & Great Gable

Great shot, love the sprinkle of snow on the pikes.

  • thanks Gary
I would love to get some winter shots in the lake district like your Stickle Tarn images .
But given the choice I will settle for the weather we had last Easter where we climbed the Scafells in Tee shirts
