It was a cold damp grey day.
The coast held no appeal, the light was poor and there would be no wave action.
Many of the downland paths were ankle deep in mud ,which would be hard work for Merry the wire haired dachy.
So I decided a walk around the downland village of Firle was in order.
It’s unspoilt and peaceful with the added bonus of a perfect traditional pub which serves the best beer known to man (Harveys Best from Lewes).
And of course after my walk I had a pint of said beer, and the dog appreciated the warmth of the blazing log fire
