Artist's Description

Notre-Dame de Coutances is a cathedral of the xiii century style Gothic , located in Coutances , department of Manche in Normandy .
The cathedral is the subject of a classification as historical monuments by the list of 1862 .
Built at an altitude of 90 meters, it dominates the town of Coutances . It is visible from the sea and, according to legend, La Hougue Bie in Jersey , yet located more than 40 kilometers.
The cathedral has specificity for the Roman part of his dressing with Gothic elements. Under the siding Gothic nave and tower facade still stands the Romanesque structure of the cathedral of the eleventh century, which is visible when browsing the upper parts, eg during guided tours.
The cathedral has two arrows on the front, and a lantern tower . Typical example of Gothic Norman , it is characterized by very pure lines.
