when i was a teenager i had two very special friends, best friends, we were like sisters….Marvette an aboriginal/islander and Prawn or Naomi, a Norfolk Islander, our fave song was ‘Ebony and Ivory’.....i am the Ivory and they are the Ebony…..Paul McCartney and Stevie Wonder sing this together here
Even though I was the victim of racial abuse throughout my childhood, (because i was a white child living in a predominently aboriginal community and my father was a policeman) I learned to love and be loved by those in a different aboriginal community…these gorgeous people accepted me, loved me, and made me feel as though we were one people….i can never forget their great love and acceptance of me…..it was a perfect balance for the abuse i’d received earlier in my life, and it helped me to see both sides of the equation…
Here are the lyrics to Ebony and Ivory...i live by this code, let’s teach them to our children and change the mistakes of the past by breeding tolerance:

Lovely and delicious design!! Karin, did you mean to have these cute fellas look like some dessert? Because everytime I see them, it reminds me of the “Bao”, a chinese bun that’s just like the shape of these :D

i think that i created these long before i realised why i did so…
but yes, i have a very deep link with the issue of racial
discrimination, because it affected me deeply growing
