I am one of the luckiest people in the whole entire world. Undoubtedly. I met a friend through a friend who is a pilot in Derby. She’s absolutely lovely, and when she found out that I hadn’t seen any of the Kimberley islands by air, she was determined to give me the opportunity if it came up. Well, she contacted me recently and let me know that there was a spare seat on a flight that was free if I didn’t mind giving a few photos to the couple who’d booked it. I said that sounded like a fair trade… and it most certainly was. The entire area is simply spectacular!!!!

That’s marvellous, Mieke, how wonderful to be able to fly over the Kimberleys!! Love the scenes you’ve captured!
Thanks, Mel – I honestly never realised how beautiful the Kimberley was until I went up above the islands in a plane… there are no words to adequately describe the colours, the intricate complexity of Nature’s ‘stamp’ on the Earth and the wonderful vast expanse where humans have trodden ever-so-lightly, without leaving their mark. Truly, an experience to remember!!

I’ve spent way too much time with google maps over the Kimberleys, so I know they’be be even more amazing for real….lucky duck!
Each species has its niche- at different distances above the low tide mark…it certainly make sone think!
It definitely does make one think… especially when you see it with your own eyes. It’s so vast and unpopulated, with so much amazing vegetation. Truly spectacular!

Another stunner. Just goes to prove what great custodians of the Great Southern Land Aborigines have been for tens of thousands of years.
Yep! I couldn’t agree more, Gary!!! :)

Just saw your comment now, Hans – sorry! Yeah, a pilot licence would be pretty nifty… but I doubt I’d ever be able to find the time for it!!
