One of the islands in Dambimangari sea-country (still trying to find its Worrorra name). It’s referred to as “Slug Island” and it’s in Talbot Bay, Western Australia.

I am one of the luckiest people in the whole entire world. Undoubtedly. I met a friend through a friend who is a pilot in Derby. She’s absolutely lovely, and when she found out that I hadn’t seen any of the islands by air, she was determined to give me the opportunity if it came up. Well, she contacted me recently and let me know that there was a spare seat on a flight that was free if I didn’t mind giving a few photos to the couple who’d booked it. I said that sounded like a fair trade… and here is the first of a series of images of the spectacular Kimberley coast by air… words don’t do it justice!!!!

Beautiful image Mieke, perfect composition and brilliant colours. Stunning to say the least!

  • Thanks, Mike! I had less than a second to get this shot – as we flew by, the pilot was saying “I don’t think you’ll be able to get it all in” and I looked at my screen (I had taken three shots) and there it was!! :) :) :)

    How cool is THAT?
What an appropriate name…although if you asked me, it looks more like a sea cucumber!
    ; )

  • I saw my first sea cucumber last weekend – they’re ugly!!! :)
