Bell Gorge, on the Gibb River Road in the Kimberley, Western Australia.
It was so beautiful, and well worth stubbing my toes in the dark and getting cold, wet feet for!
Part of the King Leopold Range National Park.

    gorgeous…did you swim?

  • Not at this time of the morning (way too cold!!) but the day before, yes, we had a fabulous time here, swimming and sunbaking on the warm rocks … Are you jealous yet? Gotta love Winter in the Kimberley!!!! Thanks, Soxy (and I’m sorry for rubbing it in… sort of!!)

so you were camping? love to hear what you are up to…eventually we might visit!!

  • Well, this is the best time of the year to visit – the end of May through until the end of September, when it’s dry and warm (rather than hot/humid). It’s a bit chillier at night, but if you have a few layers on, it’s fine!

It is beautiful Mieke and I am slowly turning green :-) I need to get up there but then I need to have some way of getting out there too!

  • :) We’re both slightly mint-tinged then!! And yes, you can’t get there without a 4WD… Travel in the Kimberley isn’t cheap!!

What us photographers have to go through for that perfect shot, Mieke!!! A beautiful image of lovely, serene and precious moment!

  • … and we do it willingly :) :) :)
Thanks, Phil! It’s a really fantastic place – you could easily spend a month there and still not exhaust the photographic possibilities!!

I am so envious. Twice I tried to travel the Gibb River road in my van….. This is absolutely beautiful.

  • You didn’t make it, Bette?? It’s not an easy road :( I left on Friday afternoon and had to drive the last 2 hours in the dark (between 40-60km/hr) dodging roos, tawny frogmouths and big rocks! But it was awesome, and well worth the effort. Thank you for the compliment – i’m sorry it’s made you envious though!! :) :) :)

All of which makes it rather hard cos I don’t have an appropriate 4WD and even if I did it’s a trifle far to drive from Melbourne.

  • I drove from Melbourne to Wyndham… !! :) :) :)
Yes, it’s a looooong way. But worth keeping it on the “to do list” for when you win the Lotto… ;)
