Sunrise lights up the incredible Roman acqueduct that ran 50km and provided the town of Nîmes with water (and subsequently, prosperity) in the 1st century AD.

c’est magnifique !
Glad you had a great holiday. This is a great capture, love the reflection.
gold and blue, can’t go passed that combination Mieke.
Love how that arch gives the feeling that it’s another world beyond, love it!
:) Thanks heaps, JC!

Awesome capture Mieke
Masterful composition & beautifully handled Mieke. Love the Mountain framed in the Arch. Good to see the Sigma 10-20 works so well on the D800. I’ve yet to try it on mine he he. How have you found the step up?
It’s AWESOME! I can definitely see the difference. I can also feel it too – it’s so heavy!!! I lugged my backpack (with the D800, 3 lenses, and often the tripod aswell) all over the place, and it just about killed my knees and shoulders! But it is certainly worth the (minor) pain. The camera rocks! =D

What a marvel it was for its time! (I was there when it was built, I think!) Love the reflections and gorgeous golden glow!
You crack me up, Mel! Yes, the bridge/aqueduct was incredible for its time… but still incredible today. It is so well constructed, and so elegant, and so MASSIVE that one feels truly insignificant beside it. One of the highlights of the trip, for sure! (More photos to come…)
