Just off the Great Northern Highway between Fitzroy Crossing and Halls Creek (Western Australia), a rocky escarpment breaks the monotony of the flat Fitzroy Valley floor. The Ngumpan Cliff is always spectacularly-coloured, but even more so at present due to recent burning-off activity and a Wet Season that saw higher-than-usual quantities of rainfall.

I grew up on Westerns at the Satdee arvo matinee, and this pitcha reminds me of those days as a kid in awe of the wide open spaces as I munched on popcorn. Great shot, Mieke, and thanks for the memories.
