Dawn at Karijini National Park (Western Australia) from Oxer Lookout…
I just returned from a four day workshop with Tony Hewitt, Christian Fletcher and Peter Eastway and it was absolutely fantastic. I learned HEAPS, and I don’t think I stopped smiling except when I was asleep =D

Very nice shot Mieke. Looks like you’ve had a bit of rain as well…
Actually, this place is just over ten hours south of where I am, but yes – the rain has made everything so green and lush! I actually had to leave home four days early because up here, there has been so much rain that the water went over the bridge between Derby and Broome and completely cut us off. Had I not left when I did, I would have spent a miserable week stuck in Derby instead of a fantastic week at Karijini!!!
Glad you like the photo, Ben :)

Very nice series of shots. I really like the image of the canyon you have to the side of this.
Thanks, Patrick! :)

I can hardly believe this is Oz. The colors are awesome, and the lighting in this image is superb. You’re developing a very keen eye for such things, Mieke… just like a true artist.
Awww… Thanks heaps, Gary! :)

Those colours are magnificent, what a beautiful place!
Thanks, Mel. We shot sunrise and sunset all four days we were there, and the colours just came to life. Unbelievable. I’ll be going back there again, for sure!

The light again is just spot on Mieke, the way it glistes atop the red earth and throughout the trees is just inspirational and that beautifully shaped tree bathed in that light takes the full glory over on the left.
Thank you, Stuart!

Amazing! Such a lovely place, great light, shapes of trees, and that red… wow!
Thank you very much, Lenka :) It really is a lovely place!

What a beautiful landscape Mieke, the play between light and shadow, the warming softness of that light, the wonderful depth in the color, and a;; framed under a pretty sky. Such a lovely image!
You know what the best part of it is, John? Looking at this photo, I am instantly back there, watching the light/colour change gradually from atop the rock I ‘staked out’ when we arrived there. Sunrise is such a calm, peaceful time of the day, with so much promise of energy and activity… and to be here for it was just awesome :)
