This is fabulous Mieke. I love the calendar too, it really captures Amsterdam xox
Thanks, Robyn!! :) :)
So cool that you`ve made this all about the bikes. Cause Amsterdam IS all about the bikes. They will run you over if you lose concentration for a nanosecond and they`ll smile for having done it. They`re the reason why there are no parking spaces in Amsterdam cause since everyone rides one, there`s no need to move your car from it`s place. And as nobody ever buys a new one (if it`s stolen, you just steal somebody else`s!), they look like they were all made in the early 50`s… and as the lights eventually wear out and they don`t bother to replace them, you can`t see them at night and so you`ve got to be REALLY careful not to hit them if you`re stoopid enough to drive in that amazing town. And though I hate to say it, riding them flatters nobody. A friend of mine once said to me long ago while passing a middle aged woman riding one of these classic black bikes complete with front basket and massive rear fender… “Bill, when you find the woman of your dreams, make sure you see her on a Dutch bike before you marry her!”Sorry to have rabbited on, but this picture just syas so much that needs to be answered.Wonderful take!
No need to apologise – So cool that you took the time to write all that! And I absolutely agree about the bikes. Coming from Australia where we look in the opposite direction before crossing the road, it’s doubly dangerous! And although I haven’t personally stolen a bike because of mine going missing, all my cousins have :) :)Thanks again, Bill. Big smiles from me!
A lovely Dutch series! Well done!
