Love the red earth of WA. I bet Broome is lovely this time of year.
Hoping to go to Birdsville Races this year.

  • Broome is lovely all the time… but yes – at the moment, it’s especially lovely. It’s not as humid as it has been, and the clouds are wonderful. I really don’t think there are many more amazing places in the whole world to live than here!!

Been a long time since the ol’ tootsies got wet walking along a beach. I can imagine being there, totally absorbed in the tranquil beauty of that place, far removed from the tribulations of the 7 o’clock news. It’s another world, Mieke.

  • My tootsies get wet quite often here… and I love that it’s quite okay to wear thongs and a singlet top to restaurants where the main meal costs $40! Such a different place to live… and yes, I know that my general feeling of well-being is in direct proportion to the frequency of evening beach walks… there’s something really special about living near the ocean with a wide, sandy beach… just gives you that bit of perspective that makes you realise your “big problems” really aren’t that big in comparison to the vast, wide vista that stretches all the way to the horizon…
I’m really glad that you “get” that from my photos, Gary.
    Thank you!!

Beautiful Mieke, lovely composition and what colours !!!

  • Thank you, Ian! I have discovered a few more great spots since you were here… and I’ve learned the trick of the tides now. So you’ll just have to come back so I can show you :)

I hear you Mieke. I could use another 12 hours a day and still not have enough time. Glad you’re still shooting at least. This one is beautiful. An awesome cloudscape and gorgeous colours on the rocks.:)

  • Thanks, Ann :) I can honestly say that if I didn’t love my dog as much as I do, there would be a lot less photography happening at the moment! But when I know he needs a walk, and I can choose to either walk round the block (no photos) or drive 5 mins to the beach (great photos), I usually take the second option! :) Hope you’re getting enough rest, Ann… being too busy for too long can really have negative health effects!

Yep, perspective is an amazing thing, like strolling along a wide sandy beach. It can alter your thinking and cause you to appreciate things that don’t occur to city dwellers. There’s a message there somewhere I think.

  • Lol! Yes – there’s definitely a message for you, Gary… it’s time for the Odyssey!!!??? :) :) :)

Thank you for your caring comment Mieke. I’m looking after myself a lot better now. I’ve quit work permanently now so no more heavy lifting thank goodness. Having said that, things are a bit hectic at the moment as we are moving house in a couple of weeks. We are going back to the Gold Coast, so I’m hoping, once the dust settles, that I will be able to get back to the beach more often. We will only be 5 minutes walk away from Surfers Paradise beach, so no excuses for not getting some new seascapes!!

  • Moving house is always stressful. But moving to the beach… yes, I think that’s worthwhile!! Good luck with packing and sorting and cleaning and all that other awful stuff… and I do hope that we see lots more beautiful seascapes from you in the near future!! xo
