Cable Beach, Broome, Western Australia.
(The patterned balls of sand in the foreground are where a crab has burrowed into the ground. Sometimes the beach is completely covered in these little balls of sand!)

Very nicely done Mieke. It is nice how the foreground pebbles (or whatever those are) sort of match the shape of that sand bar.

  • Thank you very much, Bob! The foreground pebbles are actually little sand balls made by the crab that is hiding in the hole in the middle of them! :)

this is one fine example of photographic skill…from the choice of lens, pov, composition to finding the “sweet spot” of light for a great exposure…really nice work

What a way to end the day, much more serene than how my day will end…..have you seen the crabs that burrow and leave these balls. they are so funny looking. When I was a little kid they scared me as I thought they looked like funny spiders….

  • They move so quickly too!! I just love all the critters and creatures of the Kimberley… my favourites are the TaTa Lizards … the way they sprint and then wave is so comical! And although I hate their little ‘deposits’, I can’t help loving the gekkos too :) :) Thanks, Leanne!!
