The first day I was at Cradle Mountain, Tinnieopener took me to the boatshed for a (freezing cold) dawn shoot, and then after breakfast, we went back with Claire to head up the mountain and do a bit of survey work to check out the state of the Fagus prior to the whole gang arriving over the following couple of days. Little did we know that this was to be the best weather we’d experience all week….

so much beauty, framed up so very well ~ xx

  • Thank you, Linda! It really is beautiful… and it’s amazing how far you can walk in a day! We began the day at the other end of the lake and walked along the ridge (the one on the right) to here :)

Sigh! We got there one very cold, windy & wet day – rugged up with a spray jacket over the top, bought gloves and walked the path around the lake and I used a Canon EOS3 (yup, film). When we got back we were in a sauna in our spray jackets but it was 2 deg outside of the spray jackets. It was early Jan and you were there in April and you got this! I’m both jealous and envious. I thought that it was a truly beautiful place then even in that weather but this is awesome; a view I never got to see (only there overnight). Thanks!

  • Sigh, indeed. I feel your pain!! The weather plays such a big part in the Cradle Mountain experience… having a couple of days where the sun broke through made such a difference! You’ll just have to go back there, Chris! :)

    Looks almost Scottish!

  • Lol! Can’t say I saw much blue sky last time I was in Scotland! But I didn’t spend long there, so I’ll believe you :) :) :)
    Thanks, Bruce!!

The clarity of the detail even in the background is what gets me, Mieke. Awesome!
