The Hounslow Heath walk, Cradle Mountain, Tasmania, Australia.

Friday, April 26th was Competition Day and all the Fagus Bubblers headed off to our secret locations to get “that shot”… only to find that we pretty much all ended up in exactly the same place!! Given the conditions, I think everyone figured they’d at least get one shot of a colourful Fagus tree on the walk up to Hounslow Heath… plus there was moss, fungi, and lots of running water. I was loving every minute of the misty, mossy path…

…but after about an hour, my shots all started to look the same, and slowly, the persistent rain, slick, tree-rooted paths, muddy ankle-deep puddles and backpack-snatching branches put me in such a foul mood that I stomped all the way back down in an entirely foul mood!! I was more fortunate than Mel Brackstone though… she managed to pick up a few black wiggly friends on the way…

I’m just an Aussie girl who’s a bit mad about photography :)

I just love the colours and textures Mieke. Moss has a beautiful softness which is so attractive to me. This is a far cry from the places your are used to. Fabulous !!!

  • Yep… it’s a loooooong way from home!! I pretty much spent the entire week in a state of amazement…
Can’t wait to see you! Not long now!!!

Penny and I looked at this path Mieke having had the intention of going up to Hounslow Heath. The rain was looming and we didn’t fancy ending up with twisted ankles or a broken leg. Godd on ya for your bravery. I think I’ve got a similar shot from the beginning of the path. Love this one. Fave.

  • You were probably right there, Elaine. It was okay in the beginning, going up, but after a while, it was just so slippery!! The only solid ground was in the ankle-deep mud puddles. And although I thought it was kind of cool ducking under tree branches in the beginning, by the end, I was so fed up with them! Lol! Ah well, fortunately Kylie and Steph and Mark listened to me have a vent and then I felt much better :) :) :)
Glad you like the photo though! Thank you!
