The Cockburn (“Koh-bern”) Ranges on the Gibb River Road in the East Kimberley, Western Australia.
A massive pano stitch. Something like six shots (all at 36MP)… I could almost hear the computer groaning!

breath-taking, that pano will look sensational
It’ll probably never see the light of day… but yeah, it’d look amazing. There is so much detail in there! Thanks, John!!
Those ranges truly are fantastic. What a scene!
Yup! This is the East Kimberley for you… absolutely awesome!
That needs a really big print Mieke. At least a metre wide and would look great framed and up on your wall.
Thanks, Charles!! I look forward to hearing how your print from Blackcomb turns out!
Mighty indeed Mieke. What exquisite detail a large print would reveal. Lovely ancient landscape.
Thanks, Ian! It does make you feel rather insignificant when you’re staring at these amazing geological formations. Ancient, for sure!
Amazing colours in the cliffs !!
Thanks, Ian! :)
Thanks, Ray :)
Wonderful pano Mieke! Must be so impressive in person. As I bet this would also be printed large… so wish we could be treated to some of the delicious details here. Bet it looks amazing zoomed on your computer. Can we come over and see? ;-)
Lol!!! Sure! But I’m not paying your airfare, Sylvia!!! :) :) :) Thanks so much for the comment – you’ve made me laugh!
Look a lot like the mesas of the Southwest
Mighty’s right. They way they dominate the landscape is wonderfully dramatic, accentuated by the panoramic format. Viewing the image large gives a better sense of the majesty of those ranges, Mieke. So imposing! The light’s perfect as well!
Oooohhh… you’re wearing your wordsmith’s hat today, Gary! What a lovely description! :) :) :) Thank you!! (Yes, the light was terrific… and we were lucky to get some clouds too!)
