I’m currently in Tasmania for the commencement of the RedBubble meet-up at Cradle Mountain, so this is a very brief message to say hi and apologise in advance that I won’t be online much for the next week.
Last week, my mum and I had a delightful time traipsing around the North-West Coast with Murph (ie. David Murphy) who is an absolute Master of seascape photography… His work is fantastic and his gallery is amazing. We were joined on the last evening by Garth Smith – and again, his shots made me realise that there really is an art to coastal photography… I picked up a lot of tips and tricks from these two fellas, and now I’m itching to buy an ND Grad filter set for my Zeiss 21mm. The cokin set is just too narrow!
I arrived at Cradle Mountain on Thursday, and have shot every sunset and sunrise since with the indefatigable Mark Walsh (better known as Tinnieopener). If the back of his camera is anything to go by, he has some absolute corkers from the past few days… Especially this morning!!
He and Claire (ClaireBear) took me on a MASSIVE walk yesterday (I have discovered that I have muscles I never knew existed… they all hurt today!!!!) to have a sneak preview of the beautiful autumnal colours of the native deciduous beech tree (a.k.a. “The Fagus”). I didn’t see any of Claire’s photos, but judging by the way she was shooting, I expect we’ll be treated to some fabulous macro shots of the amazing Fagus leaves! I wore seven layers of clothes plus a beanie and scarf and gloves. Lucky I did, because at the top, it started snowing!!
There are so many bubblers coming here over the next week… apparently there are going to be about 50 of us at dinner next Friday night! I can’t wait to meet everyone!! Safe travels!! Don’t forget to pack your gloves and thermals!!
TASMANIA IS BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!
…and bloody freezing!!!
