Incredible Invention No. 225

“Congratulations, Professor! You’ve finally done it!!”
“Thanks J. I couldn’t have done it without your assistance.”
Professor Y was still staring at the end of his fingers. There, he was holding a small bandaid.
No one would imagine that this bandaid allows any animal on our planet to live without any food or drink for up to 30 days!
You simply put it on your skin. It was so easy.
This invention will save the world. Save many people from starvation.
It was an incredible invention!
Imagine that you were in Antarctica with a special research team and you were trapped inside your tent. You couldn’t go out because of a severe blizzard. Your food stocks were low. But no worries, this invention would save you.
Imagine that you were in Africa and many people were starving. It cost a lot to bring food. But no worries, this invention didn’t cost much to transport.
Imagine that you were an astronaut….

“J! J! I want to ask you a favour.”
Professor Y was looking at me.
“Yes, Professor. You can ask me anything.”
“I want you to promise that you won’t tell anyone about this invention.”
“Yes, Sir. I’ll promise. I won’t tell anyone about it!”
Professor Y nodded with satisfaction.
“You are a wonderful assistant, J. Yes, you are.”
“Thank you, Sir. It’s an honor to be your assistant.”
Professor Y was cleaning his spectacles. He didn’t look tired at all after many years of hard work.
“Now I want to start a new invention!”
Professor Y never stopped working. His eyes were full of passion. He was an incredible man. He was a true hero on our planet.
“All right, J. First of all, we will use this bandaid on our arms.”
I helped Professor Y put the bandaid on his arm. I noticed that his white coat wasn’t very white any more.
“We won’t have to eat food for a while.”
He raised his fist up in the air. He had very thin arms. His body was shaking with excitement.
“I always wondered why humans had to eat so often. This is my dream come true. Now we don’t have to waste any time.”
He was a legend. He even crossed out our names from the registration list so our government wouldn’t order him to do anything.
“Come on J. Let’s start!”

We moved to the other room. We could use as many laboratory rooms as we wanted.
There were all empty. Where were the other people? I wished I could tell someone about this invention even though Professor told me not to do.
Oh, I should get back to work. Work, work and more work until the day I die. I was the assistant of the great inventor, Professor Y.
For our planet!
For our future!

Unfortunately, there were no humans left to be saved on this planet.
No one left except them.

Artist's Description

I love cooking.
I love eating.
But sometimes I wonder why we have to eat.
I wish I can keep on painting longer.
I know it is silly but that’s how I started this story…..
