The theme for my latest exhibition was Australian life. I was born and raised in Japan, and the cultures of Australia and Japan are very different in some ways. I thought, “What is Australian life? Beaches, surfing, football, Hills hoist…” One of the ideas was meat pies.
I know many Australians love tomato sauce. My friend and I laughed together when we found out that she has a big bottle of tomato sauce and I have a soy sauce bottle of about the same size!!

It is a very popular pie shop.
Always a line of people waiting outside of the shop around lunch time…

Love the sexual overtones, and innuendo in this piece, a meat pie here in the states is slang for booty, which is slang for … well you get the idea, is she hungry for the pie, or me? hope its the latter.

: ) I find this paiting amusing, it’s like the meat pie murders with the tomatoe sauce in the back ground splattered on like blood and she looks very suspocious! Love it, it’s so different cos you usually associate meat pies with guys, footy and beer!
