When we think of Japanese art, we certainly can’t avoid those women who lived in a special world of dance, poetry, singing, playing instruments and the art of make up, fashion and service.
I have been very curious about this subject since I was a child. My grandfather had a lot of Ukiyoe art in his study.
It is a quite challenge to express the essence of Oiran image in an abstract way.

    This is a very beautiful abstract. I love the dominance of the red and how it interacts whith softer greens, blues, yellows and the bold curling black. Lovely work.

    Very hard to pick a favorite in your work Midori. Maybe this one takes me further in than others but then I look the others and start in on all sorts of trips there.I feel enveloped by your paintings.I feel like I am privy to your secrets I just don’t know what they are specifically.
