A huge ship taking up half of the floor space in an Exhibition of Knitting at the Customs House, South Shields, Tyne and Wear, England, UK. When South Shields was closed as a port, tthe Customs House was converted into a multiplex of cinema, theatre, restaurant, art gallery and exhibitions space. It gives the town a great deal of cultural character and is large enough for the needs of the community. Larger cinemas, etc, exist elsewhere, but you don’t get a wonderful view of the Tyne lit up at night, when you walk out of their doors!
