Hi Micmac, both my parents work in hospitals, one in emergency department and the other in same kind of place you do, and they see heaps of people young and old pass away all the time.
I did my nursing but then my one of my daughters got told she had a heart condition and then a few years later we were told that my son kinta has a very unusual condition and not known in children so I decided I would not continue with the nursing.
My problem is that I get to close with people, more so the elderly but I could not watch so many people I got to know pass away on me.

You know what! you did well quitting, life tells us so many things that we don’t listen sometimes to busy we are to survive.I was working with my father for ten years,he got sick.Both my parents were Alzeimer in the same year at 61 and 64 years old.Six months after he died I was working at the same place he passed away.I took care of my mother for 10 years,life guided me there,but I can’t compare with you I guess life told you to take care of your precious children,I don’t know.WE just have to forward.Good luck! dear Anne-Marie

Gigi, thanks for giving us an insight into your life and also that of your dear friend Fernand- You have both lived and known sadness and pain – Alzheimer’s leaves family and friends grieving whilst the person is still living – a very difficult thing to go through as you watch them disappear before your eyes (My father also had a rare form of Alzheimer’s called Lewy Body Dementia which meant his health declined very quickly) You have captured Fernand’s personality in this portrait – you can tell immediately from this that he is a gentleman. He will be very happy to see you return with some peaches for him ;-)

Oh Gigi… this is such a touching heartwarming story!... He is a very handsome man of 95 and I bet he had all the girls swooning over him like a movie star! You are a good friend and I hope you have him for many years to come. I’m happy to hear of his grandaughter.. I will pray she makes a full recovery.
