Great find Mike…did you find this guy in the wild?

  • MICKSPIXPHOTOS replied 26 days ago

Thanks, Brandy. Very much appreciated. Yeah, they have a nest just east of Findlay and the like to hand around in the trees right next to the road. GREAT photo ops !!!

Thanks, Jeff. When my friends Shellie and Steve and I were up there at the beginning of October we were told at the Canal Visitor Center that the nest in the valley blew down in a wind storm. Hope there’s another one up there soon.
    I appreciate the comment.

Are you serious? Wow that nest was huge. Must have been one heck of a storm. Every year there is a baby there. Its usually a big thing in the Valley.
Supposedly the same female comes back to that nest every year.

  • MICKSPIXPHOTOS replied 26 days ago

Yeah, that’s what they told us. I guess it happens more often than you’d think. I know a couple out here have blown down over the last several years. It does seem hard to believe, though, that something that size could be destroyed by the wind, and that the herons’ nests stay year after year.
