This one is definitely better viewed large.

On Friday, when Mila was so reluctant to pose for me, Hudson (5) was sweetly willing. So I did a portrait of him, too, inspired by this post by waitin’ for rain showcasing the marvellous works of Elizabeth Bailey. Very inspiring.

In between cooking, shopping, doing laundry, washing dishes, changing nappies and schooling my children I sometimes find a spare moment to doodle, draw or photograph something or someone. Those are the moments that keep me going, even if they are few and far between. Food for the artist mom’s soul.

“eyes of innocence”….“the expressive thought”….“do you see me?” are a few that come to mind. Absolutely Love this image. the lighting, dof and composition (rule of 3rds)…very well done and a handsome young man! his eyes are mesmorizing

  • Oh thank you! ‘Do you see me?’ is perfect, and I think maybe the heartfelt cry of any small child in such a big family like ours, where there are so many demands on mom’s time… Thank you, too, for your kind words!

    Age of Innocence
    Starry Eyed
    Love you MOM

  • thanks so much, Kira!! i ended up going with loray’s ‘Do you see me?’ title because it just struck a chord with me, I get so busy and sometimes my little ones seem a bit lost and forlorn, though of course I do see them, and adore them, maybe they don’t always feel it? : )

thank you for choosing one of my suggestions….just the look in his eyes…could be saying “do you see me” as a person, emotionally, or in many ways….

  • I completely agree! thanks again!

my goodness Hudson looks so adorable here…and it really is ‘do you see me?’ in his eyes and mouth…i love feckles in portraits, they really make a portrait very special (non of mine have freckles sadly!) xxx

  • I have freckles : ) though in pictures of me I like to take them out… I guess Hudson must have something of me in him after all, although everyone always says he looks like his dad. Thanks so much, Ingz! xxx
