Heads or Tails

Featured in Collective Collage – September 09 – Thank you very much to the hosts!
Found this charming little creature in my garden, they frequent my yellowwood trees. I just love how her skin looks like a gorgeous pebble mosaic in miniature. She was about 10 cm head to tail and full of fiery attitude – suitable for a tiny dragon like this one. I reckon God has such fun with each chameleon he creates, placing their tiny jewel tiles in place on their perfect armour…
Taken with my Canon 400D

This is so beautiful—and I love the original framing. You’re lucky to still see chameleons in Bloem: haven’t seen one in KZN for 2 years!
micklyn replied
Maybe we are just that – lucky – I have a friend who lives on a plot here and she says she hasn’t seen one in 10 years… then again, they are famous for chamoflage ( : (don’t think I spelled that right!) thanks for commenting!

oh you are so so so lucky to have these in your garden…..i would just sit all day observing them….I’ve never seen a real life chameleon and always wanted to…i’m so jealous!!!...you’ve captured him so beautifully!!! x
micklyn replied
You would probably observe him a while and then translate him into some beyond awesome artwork that would leave us all speechless… I can just see him adorning the shoulder (or head) of one of your adorable girls, like living jewellery. Like your octopus one… ( :

The snapshot as I always say – woulda been the whole animal and taken at a distance with a wide DOF. Animals have detail that the viewer wants to be amazed at and interested in. This is achieved in your diptych. Whats interesting on a chameleon – its 360 degree eyes and its curly tale and so here they are !
Detail and DOF = PHOTOGRAPH – ABFAB.
micklyn replied
thanks for that great comment!
