Babe in a box / Smiley Reilly

Featured in the group Freedom To Shine – June 09 – Thank you so much!

Was out in the garden when I saw this box of fallen bougainvillea blossoms someone had swept up. Couldn’t resist popping the baby in there. Taken using my Canon 400D, natural light.

haha awesome! the texture of the box and the colour of the blossoms are such a great contrast against the softness of the baby – and baby seems to be enjoying it!

  • micklyn replied

He did, but mostly because I was talking to him and making funny faces… he’s a people person!!

Lovely! Great impulse and great execution, also like how you isolated the box in the frame!

  • micklyn replied

Thanks! I stuck a white towel under the box… the ground it was on was not very appealing!

This is absolutely gorgeous! Looks like you both had a fun time!

Helps to have such a yummy little model! Really, i could eat him up… ( : For the longest time (after I studied fine art – finished 10 years ago) I couldn’t do anything “cute” – it was drummed into me by my tutors that “cute” and “art” can NOT co-exist… even now, i feel a bit silly doing work like this!

The photo is brilliantly executed although I have a second thought about popping the baby in the cardboard box for the sake of playing :)

  • micklyn replied

I put a nicely folded blanket under him! just made sure you couldn’t see it in the final image, it spoiled the shot!! ( : thanks!

I never meant to say that you were not careful even for a sec.
Just being honest and the first thought that came to my mind was the one I wanted to share with you.
I am impressed with your creativity and the level of success you achieve with your photographic explorations.
It is something I should be doing much more, but unfortunately the lack of time and freshness does its part :( But admiring the work of the fellow photographers is so helpful in recharging my batteries even when I am not creating.
    Take care,
    Miloš

  • micklyn replied

Yes, nothing like seeing the amazing work going on here to inspire you! you take care, too!

  • micklyn replied

Yes, I didn’t belong to very many groups at the beginning, was still figuring out how things work here on rb… the other day I thought about it and decided to submit this to a few more groups… maybe gone overboard, lol!! Thanks for commenting, here, always love hearing from you. ( :
