Have always had an interest in the arts but never could find a way to indulge myself full time. Photography is my first love, with reading(non fiction) writing and music a close second
Being a political animal, I enjoy capturing urban images including slogans, graffiti and stencil art. Generally anything that is somewhat quirky and begs to be recorded. Gritty realism appeals to me and the human condition always interests me. Streetscape is a major influence but just one of many influences.
I enjoy the juxtaposition of colour and shape, often manifesting itself in architectural abstract and man made construction.
My writing compliments where possible, often pursuing a theme and providing creative balance. The urge to write can be overwhelming and I feel comfortabe in the 150 word (Flash Fiction) genre.
I love to make strong images with a message also . Social justice and political comment have been known to surface.
Recently I have returned to film (medium format) as well. This has given me an impetus for creativity which Im enjoying. I do not possess Photo Shop and do not feel the need to manipulate the image beyond , Crop, Saturation Curves or a Panoramic stitch. The composition is the key.
Influences include Weegee, Jeffery Smart, Atget, Weston, Cartier-Bresson, Michael Ormerod , Egglestone, Callahan and many more (This continually changes)
Enjoy!

I have a sneaking suspicion we do not belong here…...

Nationalism sits in one’s heart and mind. I do not need to express a fervour to take part.
Hope I’m wrong
