Two funerals for a family

Two recent deaths happened in my family.

Two funerals for a family belongs to the following groups:

Melbourne & Victoria

He walked out of the room quickly noting no number,
Most likely family, they’re the best option for a blocked call,
A breath, a choke, a second breath and a hello
Already cold vines entwine the chest.
A standard question on greeting, how is life, what is life, why is life
But hearing the voice he hears that something bad.
And yet…

nothing is meant to be unexpected.
And so everything is expected.
And the question is not what,
but who and when.

The answer, a shock,
One slated to be fine,
not healthy but fine
One not let go in the mind,
Not wished goodbye at each visit.
A close family that’s distant means smiles and greetings only on occasion
But memories remain
of cousins and aunts,
uncles and siblings
but then a second note hits
the second death is a quiet one,
a distance for him,
but not for his mother,

two notes in the chest,
reminding the phrase
growing old is continuous
but growing up is still painful
twice death in a day

    ‘growing old is continuous
but growing up is still painful’

    Sums it all up eloquently.

    See you Saturday.

    Nice words.
I feel for you Michael, and your family. I have just had a close family member die as well – just a few days ago. It’s been such a shock to me and the rest of my family. We only seam to meat up at funerals and weddings now!.... like you though; I have fond, and lasting, memories of family gatherings gone by.

I know the feeling Naf, Oddly enough it’s the first time I met some of my cousins children.
I hope your family is fine now as well.
