The Incident – 32

+21 Days : 11 Hours : 1 Minutes

...I understand what you just said was English, but I have no clue what it means. Can you just go through that slowly?

You, know DNA checks, right?

Yes. Up the technical knowledge, I’m not that stupid.

How long have you been working?

Three years.

Well congratulations on the promotion. Now, follow me here. We have 160 blood samples that are all over the scene, 82 uncontaminated. Right?

I get you. but they’re the blood of the people shot, aren’t they?

We don’t know. But if there’s any other blood how can that help now.

We don’t have the DNA database properly up.

We might be able to get that set up quicker. And there might be another…

Another what?

Another option.

Okay, go on.

It can’t leave this room.

Oh-kay.

A friend of mine, has a database of DNA that we could run this through.

What’s the catch? That sounds pretty straightforward.

His provision for getting the information was that all of the records would stay anonymous. It’s a PHD research project.

But it’s not.

No, it is. But it’s got all the records. It’s a large database too.

How large?

7.8 million

That’s massive, And who is it?

The #### bank.

What do you think?

… sounds a long shot. What happens if they aren’t in there.

Well, this is where it gets a little hazy. The school blood test scheme, the diabetes one. That’s also put into there.

I didn’t think that happened.

It’s meant to be part of the blood type scheme. It’s seen as a preventative.

So?

There is some software that he’s using as part of it to work out if the blood type is close to any we picked up. We could get a parent, a child, a brother or a sister.

So all this work, all this stuff is based on the off chance that some of that blood is one of the terrorists?

…Yes.

That’s a long shot.

... do you want me to try?

Yes. start the process; I’ll get some approvals. Keep it quiet though.

I know… This would screw up a whole lot of the case.

I’m suprised you didn’t slap me over the back of the head when you were in Melbourne. I was worried for a second.

I thought about it … but had my train of thought derailed and then forgot.

Having the attention span of a goldfish is fine if you’re a goldfish. When you’re a human it sucks!

    I’m working on the tension.

I’m glad that part is working.I worry that someone out there has worked out everything (I was that worried about people working out who the kidnapped people were that I’m glad I can say it now without worry)
