i these are hard as hell to capture. been there frustrated many times. love the neon blue against the green. i think its a damselfly though. i just looked it up and its a Rambur’s Forktail damsel. the yellow underside is the giveaway. beautiful capture. superb detail. excellent soft BG to make “her” (its a female) stand out. bravo.

Thanks JK – I’ll go and make that title change now. I hear your pain. I’ve been trying to capture a picture of one of these for ages. I sat very still in the hot sun in the cactus section of the botanic gardens and suddenly ‘she’ appeared – I couldn’t believe it.

Very beautiful! Saw a few of these the other day, and you’re right, they hover for a second, then they’re off again!
Michelle Legg replied
Thanks mariaan for your comment – I’ve a got a few with the head in focus and the body blury as the back of them was moving!

I would be proud too! It’s amazing and so crisp – that blue is dynamic….
Michelle Legg replied
Thanks TLeeHoney – I am pretty proud of this one and I really love the graduated blue in the eyes.
