This is a female Papilio aegeus aegeus or Donovan Orchard Butterfly which is found throughout much of Queensland and other Australian states it is visiting our Geisha Girl (Duranta repens) blossoms. Before it tranformed into this beautiful creature, it was a grub that nibbled on the lime tree leaves shown in the photo. Thank you for your comment Barb. At present there are limes growing on this tree. I love limes and hope that the fruit holds onto the tree. Haven’t seen any of these butterflies this season but that doesn’t mean that they haven’t been about. We did see at least one grub on the tree.

Off to see you artwork now.
