Hi there, I am trying to zoom in and focus on a small area of a photograph but the area is probably too small to bring up the clarity of the part of the area I want to see.
It was taken by a digital camera but I am not the owner of the camera so I don’t know the pixel rate etc.
Is there any way to improve this fuzzy image? I have only tried Microsoft Office Picture Manager. I have access to Photoshop.
I sense that I may not be able to get a clear picture from this small area. It is quite important that I can get a clear view of this section to identify the objects in the image.
Any advice will help.
Thanks in advance, Michelle.

If you mean you are enlarging the photo and it’s becoming pixelated Michelle, it might be hard to get past that without actually losing detail. You could try searching the Net for Noise Reduction programs … and then play around with the sharpness using Picassa or a similar program. In the end though, enlarging a photo using software fills in pixels based on surrounding pixels so you are always going to lose detail.

Thank you Craig. You certainly responded to my query with rapid speed and I am extremely grateful. You have confirmed my suspicions that I am losing the details as the area I am aiming for is far to small. I will certainly follow your advice though and see what happens. Once again thanks for taking the time to repond.

I’ve had luck with increasing the image to a couple of times bigger than I want it to actually be, applying the ‘blur’ or even the ‘more blur’ filter > which softens the jaggy pixels and then reducing it to the size I want.
That said, it’s never ideal…
