Papillon - Butterfly Dog
In centuries past, the dainty Papillon was a favourite pet among the ladies of the court in Europe, and in particular France, and were frequently portayed in paintings by masters such as Rubens, Titian and Van Dyck.
The Papillon gets its name from the French word meaning butterfly, due to the resemblance with this little dogs ears.
The original artwork for this print was created using artist quality colour pencils on drafting film.
