Self Portrait Challenge
Hey guys!
As a lot of you know, I recenty added a self portrait to my portfolio. It all started with a friend telling me I should do a new avatar which is the one I have now. I have mixed feelings on self portraits. I personally am not really comfortable with posting pictures of myself on here, but it was kind of an interesting experience. Along the way I have bugged others about doing one. So far only Mark Gardner has done one which I think is great. And soooo, I was thinking…...I am challenging each and every one of you who reads this to do a self portrait and post it on redbubble. Once you have done it, come back here and post the link so others can see! I am giving you a week from today. No prize or anything, I just think it would be a fun experiment. So what do you say? Who is up for the challenge?!

Hmmm… I don’t think I have ever done a self-portrait and not sure if I want to… It’s so much more fun to take photos of others ;)

Hmmm, I guess I could have another bash, I had one up a few months back doing the whole “photographing into the mirror” thing but wasnt really happy with the results. I”ll think about another way of doing it, any tips Shelly?

Cooool! Ummmm….I do the old extend the arm and point and shoot thing haha! Probably your best bet would be a tripod and remote though I would think. I have never tried the mirror thing before, but I bet it is a bit tricky. Sorry I can’t help you out on that one but I am sure you will do great with whatever you end up doing :)

Great! Now I’ve got two of you bugging me for an SP… Leaving aside the fact that we’re all too fussy to put our own pictures up here, SP is one of the most difficult types of photography to do. I’m not promising you anything! I’ll think about it. In the meantime, this will have to suffice :-P

Thanks Shelly I took my self portrait about 3 or 4 months ago. By taking this in winter wearing a tee-shirt I thought I might come across as “A hardy Canadian boy” (or maybe a senile of fool?)!
A new one? Sounds like a plan!

Great idea for a challenge Shell, you’ve got a load of people interested already, will be great to see new pics of all these good folks :) I guess I’m in too then, was a laugh last time I did a couple of SP’s, took a load of stick, but was all good fun :) Hmmmm…..now I just need a wide brimmed hat, a blue towell for background, arm extended and….........

I’m terrified of doing self portraits….. it’s so confronting! Which is why I do them…... I’m one of those “face your fears head on” kind of people. To make it easier for me I always try to “say” something in my SP’s rather than just try to look good…..

I was just about to come and start nagging at you Kevin!!!! So what do you mean by a group? Like an actual group? I believe there are already several, but I do think it would be great to have them all together on a page somewere. Maybe I should do another journal entry with all of the sp’s on there. What do you think? Any suggestions? While you are thinking about it….....go do one of your own!!!!!
