Inspired by “Johnny Cash.” Also from personal feelings of isolation.

The traditional johnny coat, the thin, drafty, and revealing hospital gown that ties in the back and represents for many patients everything they hate about being in the hospital: a loss of comfort, dignity, and control. Nurses and doctors used to call them ‘I-C-U’ gowns, because you could really see people from the rear. The term “Johnny” appears to be born in Boston. According to the Historical Dictionary of American Slang: Johnny is “Common in Boston area hospitals from ca1900, but apparently unknown elsewhere.”

Nice one M. Love your work as always

  • Callum, I am so happy you are enjoying my work as much as I am enjoying creating them! As always my friend thank you so much for looking and commenting. Helps me get more inspired to keep going. I honestly went through an artist block for many years (7 years exactly) when I first got sick. But it feels so good to be creating again. Its almost like my spirit is slowly coming back to life a little bit through my photography. It feels great, like I was lost and now I am finding me again!! Have a wonderful weekend!!!!! I will be urbexing all over CT and NY this weekend with my urbex group!! sooo excited!
