Star trails over farm equipment. Rice, Minnesota, USA

Nikon D7100, 10-24mm nikon lens
On a beautiful, clear, mid summers night, I found myself on the edge of a potato field in the middle of Minnesota. It was 1:20am Monday morning, the moon had set 20 minutes earlier and had darkened the night sky to increase the sighting of the meteor show.
This was the first night of the Perseid meteor shower,. You can only make out two in this shot. One straight line above the righthand arm and the other on an angle, half way up the left side. These must of been the larger ones, because I saw a lot more than what you can see here.
This is another test shot I have been doing lately with my new camera the Nikon D7100. I had some problems with a similar star trail image I took last week, an incredible amount of noise on a long exposure of 40mins at iso 100. After asking a few experts, it appears I was using the wrong technique. Apparently leaving the shutter open for 40mins produces a lot of heat and creates dark current which shows up as noise (big blue spots). It looked bad, really bad. It was worse than my 8 year old D200.
So… this image is the result of 139 images stacked together in photoshop. Each image was 20sec, f:3.5, iso 800. All files are about 20mb, it took an hour for photoshop to process it.
I love the results, more to come…
