Insider Secrets of the Print-On-Demand Industry

I receive this in an email from Fineartamerica.

Makes for interesting reading if you have the time.

Sort of fits in with this pinning thing.

Its all about the money

Insider Secrets of the Print-On-Demand Industry

If you have not checked out FAA (Fineartamerica) have a look at my page and see if you like it.

You can up load as many images as you like for free, but only have 25 of them for sale, unless you upgrade for a small price. I have not yet upgraded, but a recent sale on here has made me think about it.

And lets face it redbubble still works well but it ain’t what it used to be.

Good luck…..

And that bit of nastiness was the reason I closed my account with faa. I suspect that the “founder” is living in a dream world….

  • With only three full time employees, the founder is probably sitting on there massive yacht counting the money

Not on facebook,……was it really important ?,..

  • Not really important :)
    just a few points.
    - Most print-on-demand websites attract very few buyers… especially when compared to the number of sellers on the site.
    - Most print-on-demand companies are investment vehicles for venture capitalists who are looking to grow and sell the company within 3 – 5 years
    - Most POD companies use the same fulfillment centers to produce their prints and, therefore, offer the exact same print quality
    - Most POD companies have huge employee payrolls to sustain.FineArtAmerica.com has three full-time employees.

Thank you Michael,……I have a non pay page at FAA,……not sold anything there,……
Not nearly as many views there as I have here,……..Someone from NYC wanted me to lower my price,……for him to buy.,…..Not making any money at the price they are,…So no was my answer !
I also enjoyed looking at your gallery,…Very much impressed by what you do,….
May I ask what gear you use?
    Thanks again…..I appreciate your friendliness,…

  • Hey John,
I use a Nikon D200 with 10-24mm lens. It is now a very old camera – need to upgrade, but it still works fine.
I had nt sold anything on FAA for 2 years until last month, have not had that many views either.
But it pays to have your name out there on a few sites if its free, and you can always have link back to your website or bubblesite.

It’s clear to me that ethics in business isn’t something that the founder of faa has taken much note of….especially when you consider that he’s trolling for “LIKES” with the thing for a start, and then not making it open to discussion from those outside, and then bringing in all sorts of lies and fantasies into his thesis…..
I’m not going to be funding his yacht, or his fantasies.

I read that some time ago, too, and felt it was loaded with half truths and skewed “statisitics.” I have not read it lately, so don’t know if they made any changes, but the version I read said RB only got one hit a month per user or something nonsensical like that. I felt the document was poorly written, misleading, and it was a reason I’d never open an account at FAA now. So their attempt to bash other sites backfired in my case!

  • Fair enough Cindy. Like I said to John "it pays to have your name out there on a few sites if its free, and you can always have link back to your website or bubblesite. "
