Michael Powell was born in Washington D.C. and joined the U.S. Air Force in 1989. He works as an aircraft mechanic and is currently stationed in Okinawa, Japan. He was dive certified in 1999 in Philippines and has since dived in Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia, Hawaii, and Okinawa. He is a reef conservationist and is currently working with local dive shops to plant coral on local reefs.
Accomplishments:
Published “Mike and the Seasnake” in Okinawa Living Magazine for a second place win in the people category for Tsunami Gear’s underwater photo contest 2007.
“Karamas Sea Turtle” was selected as a finalist in the Photographer’s Forum Photo Contest and has been published in the “Best of College Photography 2008 Annual” with more than 4000 entries world wide.
DIving, photography and beer are his only vices…
