A heavy load... Loch Morlich, Scotland by

These magnificent trees were by what I think must have been the edge of Loch Morlich: the Loch had completely frozen over, and I was standing on the ice. The trees seemed to be carrying the weight of the world on these branches… though they also appeared to be in the process of liberating themselves from this burden!

More images are on my website.

Although several groups on RedBubble require this information, the camera really does not matter:
Nikon D90
Nikon 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6G VR DX

Amazing the amount of snow on those branches! A great capture!

  • Thank you, Whisper, it was awe-inspiring to see it, and to note that none of the branches had just snapped off under the weight!

I’m just adding another image showing a completely different approach the trees took… (that sentence will make sense when you see the picture, I hope!)

So very lovely – wonderful image. You just be careful when standing on ice though!

  • Thanks, Cynthia!
I made very sure only to go where others had already been…! The next day I was at another frozen loch that nobody had been to, and I made sure to stay well clear of the ice :)
