The stunning ornamental face of the Queen Victoria Building in Sydney, Australia taken a few years back with the Fuji Finepix F800.

It’s hard to get the lighting right with this building, so I haven’t been able to get a better photo since. I tried to delete the traffic light but it was too much hard work.

This is the George St side. The building takes up a whole small city block & is enclosed by George, Market, York & Druitt Sts & is across the road from Sydney Town Hall.

The Queen Victoria Building (or QVB), is a late nineteenth-century building designed by the architect George McRae in the central business district of Sydney, Australia. The Romanesque Revival building was constructed between 1893 and 1898 and is 30 m (98 ft) wide by 190 m (620 ft) long and was named the Queen Victoria Building to commemorate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee in 1897.

In 1959 it was threatened with demolition but was finally restored between 1984 and 1986 by Ipoh Ltd at a cost of $86 million.

Country born & bred but now located in Sydney, Australia.

I’m fascinated by the beauty of nature & in particular Australian native flowers & landscapes. I also love colour & anything unusual.
The Blue Mountains are my favourite spot at the moment.
