A fascinating rocky outcrop visible from the lookout at Katoomba where you can see Katoomba Falls.

My second shot of Orphan Rock but this one is closer & clearer.

Photographed with a Canon 400D in the Blue Mountains National Park in New South Wales, Australia.
It used to be possible to climb onto the rock but I believe it has now been closed off.

Just Fun, May 2012.
National Parks of the World, May 2012.
Exquisition, May 2012.

200 views as of July 5, 2012.

Country born & bred but now located in Sydney, Australia.

I’m fascinated by the beauty of nature & in particular Australian native flowers & landscapes. I also love colour & anything unusual.
The Blue Mountains are my favourite spot at the moment.

Such wonderful detail Michael – I have never seen this in real life, my life is incomplete! Excellent work

  • Thanks a lot Rosalie. I avoided Katoomba for years because it was too touristy & missed these gems.

Amazing rock formation Michael and you have shot it so well. Wouldn’t fancy trying to climb this !!

  • Thanks Ian. It seems like it is less daunting from the other side but I couldn’t believe it when I saw the fence up top when I viewed it through the telephoto lens.
