Evening falls on the city of Sydney & people are walking home through Hyde Park or waiting for later events at clubs & restaurants.

Near the War Memorial the shallow pond reflects the lamps & an ibis drops in for a drink (right).
I liked the ghostly look of the trees on the right & if you zoom in you can see some interesting rays of light shining through the gaps in the tree branches at the top.

Title inspired by Dali’s ‘Burning Giraffe’.

A truly wonderful capture Michael! Great reflections!

  • Thanks Sharon. A little different to my usual lot but I walked past these trees again the other day & thought how fascinating there are.

A beautiful series of lines in this one Michael …. works well. Love the image, it looks so peaceful especially when you know the area is surrounded by the hustle and bustle of Sydney♥

  • Great comment Bev. I was actually waiting for the people at the end of the pool to move away but then decided to take the photo anyway & leave them there. I love contrasts .. the fact of two opposites existing side by side .. yin & yang, old & new, etc & this one shows it quite well I think.

It pays to “think outside the square” and this is one of those times with a great result !
Most people would stand about where the people are sitting and shoot facing the Memorial.
    Great shot Michael !

  • I reckon I think outside the square most of the time. Just have to translate it more into my photography !
Thanks for the great compliment & fave Trish.
