Photographed with a Canon 400D, ISO400, F22, 1.6 seconds , RAW Mode.

This is the famous Sylvia Falls in the Blue Mountains National Park in Australia.

This is the view as you approach the falls from above. After hundreds of shots of Sylvia Falls I thought I had photographed it from every angle but this view looked so nice with the ferns & orange coloured rocks that it begged to be photographed.

The walking track starts from the Valley of the Waters at a place called Wentworth Falls. The waterfall that the place is named after is at the other end of the walk.

Breathtaking and beautiful Michael, I love your water effects, you seem to have these down pat… great scene!!

  • Thanks Mark. The lighting can be tricky with the white water & often dark surrounds.

Excellent work Michael – looks awesome from this angle ! – Love it !

  • Thanks Gail. It didn’t look like this last time I saw it so it seemed new to me. A storm & deluge of water a little while back stripped the ferns away but they have now grown back to give the view that extra greenery.

  • Thanks for the fave as well.

Beautiful Michael, I love the ferns on the foreground! I rarely shoot from above like this, I’m afraid of heights! I even get uncomfortable when I see people near the edge, but it’s a great perspective and I’m trying to give it a try more often.

  • I know how you feel Tim. I don’t like heights either, but I go to scary places because they are beautiful & you get the good shots. Sometimes focussing on the beauty helps a bit. This spot was ok .. not far to fall.
    Thanks for the compliment.

One of my favourite corners of the Blue Mountains Michael. A great slow shot of the waterfall to capture just the right amounta of light.
