This is the Glasshouse Mountains as seen from the Mount Beerburrum lookout, near the town of Beerburrum on the Sunshine Coast of Queensland, Australia.

Photographed with a Canon 400D & cropped to a panoramic size.
The original image has been replaced by this recent photo taken in Jan 2012.

I saw great views of these mountains when I went to the Woodford Folk Festival & had to get back with the camera. I also remember the mountains from the train trips to my grandparents in Bundaberg long ago.

The Glass House Mountains, a group of 13 volcanic peaks, are a prominent feature of the Sunshine Coast landscape. Gradual weathering by wind and water has produced these spectacular remains of volcanic activity which occurred more than 20 million years ago.

Glass House Mountains National Park protects seven of the thirteen distinctive mountains – Beerwah, Tibrogargan, Ngungun, Coonowrin (Crookneck), Miketeebumulgrai, Elimbah (Saddleback) and Coochin Hills – along with Blue Gum Creek Section. Within the park, rare plants, vegetation, and their dependent animals are conserved.

Scenery, Mar 2012.

260 views as of Feb 28, 2012.

What a magnificent panoramic capture of this spectacular volcanic landscape. Those storm clouds add to the atmosphere of the whole composition. Superb capture Michael!

  • Thanks for the big compliment Mike. Imagine what I could do with the new camera & some stitching!

Two of my favourite things: Mountains (utmost favourite) and ‘fluffy’ clouds. :) Thank your friend for me. :) This is the closest I’ll get to such a great view for awhile.

    I like it… a lot! :)

  • Thanks heaps Donna. I must get back to the great views in Qld with my new camera. Just have to find a chauffeur.
