Vivid Opera House from the bridge by

After walking across the bridge the previous week from North Sydney & seeing how good the Opera House looked from there with the Vivid Festival lights, I decided to spend a bit of time & wait for some of my favourite colours.

It was cold & the high wind was icy, but I was determined to make the trip worthwhile.
I liked the lights behind the Opera House as well.

Vivid Sydney 2011 ran till June 13 with a fascinating & colourful display of moving lights over the sails of the Opera House.

This is the view from the stairs of the Harbour Bridge at The Rocks. I couldn’t resist adding yet another of this great sight especially with these colours.

With art supplied by French collective Superbien, this years display is more dynamic & entertaining than the slowly changing displays from the past 2 years though a bit harder to photograph due to the mobile nature of the works.

This is Sydney, Australia.

Photographed with a Canon 400D.

All Things Poetic, Artistic, Philosophical, June 2011.
Islands of the World, June 2011.
Superbly Visual, Apr 2014.

I sold two small prints of this photo to work colleagues in July 2011.

Its amazing ! great capture Michael, how many different designs did you count while you were watching ?

  • Thanks a lot Trudi. I wasn’t counting. I was too busy trying to keep my hands warm & stop the wind from blowing the camera off the tripod!

Great view point !! Love it!

  • Thanks David & thanks for the fave. A great angle but not much room between the wall & the wire frame to work with.

Cold up there too ? it was snowing down here on Tuesday and temp has’nt risen above 6 all week, roll on spring…….

  • Cold for us but obviously nowhere near as cold as down there. The chill factor on the bridge must have pulled the temperature down. It was relatively warm down at Circular Quay. I had to take the beanie off.
Can’t wait for spring & to get up into the mountains again.

Michael, this shot as well as the others of Vivid Sydney are fantastic and such a huge contrast to all your shots of the mountains, but equally amazing!

  • Thanks a lot Kath. I love colour, especially on a big screen …. maybe almost as much as a beautiful waterfall.
