The long view of the beautiful Fitzroy Falls in the Southern Highlands of New South Wales, Australia.

You can gauge the height of this waterfall by looking at the people on the lookout platform in the top left hand corner. This is the lookout where I took the long drop shot that appears on the right of this page.

This is in the Moreton National Park in Australia.

it’s a loooong way to the bottom, simply awesome Michael!! Did you do the trek around the other side!? I wish I had been a bit more adventurous on my trip there.

  • Thanks Mark. Yep, we went both east & west of the falls & checked it out from a few different lookouts.
Last time I was there it was raining so heavily that I only saw lots of water & no cliff.

Ah, Michael that’s the view I was meaning – another good one.

  • Thanks Ian. I had so many of this waterfall, it took me a while to find the best (or a good one at least).

Beautiful scenery Michael … its years since I’ve been to these falls … must add it to the list♥

  • Thanks Bev. Yep, get on down there & visit Kangaroo Valley while you are there. There is a pie shop at Barrengarry (between the two)that claims to have the world’s best pies. The one I had was very nice.

Great shot Michael. I guess it’s about 120 metre. LINK

  • Thanks John. I read somewhere else that it was 80 metres. It’s interesting that they class it as number 4 in Australia.

A great area to spend a day, nice “long drop” !
I agree with you on the length of the drop …
The falls lie in the path of the Yarrunga Creek, which drops over 80 metres down the escarpment, and flows on into the Kangaroo River. The water flow is not as massive, nor as irregular, as in the past due to a water catchment dam further upstream today.

  • Thanks Trish. Whatever the length of the drop, it’s huge & impressive.
